LOTRO Update 15 has launched.

Hey guys!

LotRO launched Update 15 today.  This means some nice additions to the end game landscape in Gondor (level 100), a NEW class - Beorning (bear shape-changers) and MOST importantly...

means you need to run the update BEFORE attempting to log into LOTRO Thursday night.

At the time of this post (wednesday morn) the Lotro Facebook page says the servers are back up after the updates.

If you want to check out the developer notes on update 15 - Check here
For videos on what the Beorning is like (at least was in beta) - Check here

See you in game!

Reminder:

  • Tuesday nights start at 8:00 PM CST (9:00 pm server time)
  • Thursday Nights start at 7:45 PM CST (8:45 pm server time)

10/23/2014 - This week

Tuesday - Had a blast with Teri and Zig running the 3 mans from Garth Argawen.  Ran on my lil' hobbit guard to catch him up the group.  We are holding at Level 35 for the moment.

Next week, there's a northern corner of the Trollshaws teeming with elite spiders, trolls, wood trolls, huourns and other wild things that could use some attention.

Thursday - Be on tonight at 7:45, we'll start a call and see where we go.  Had a great time last week with D questing in the southern end of Ered Luin.  Found out later that C was lurking in the shadows on her captain.  We'll coax C into the call this week. :)

This group is more come as you are... so level is anything from 5 to 20... and we're in Gondamon I believe.

Linked Through LOTRO - Thursday Fresh Start

Hello!  Welcome to a new group on Thursday.

We'll meet on the Landroval server at 7:45 pm CST for this fall group.  Go ahead and go to www.LOTRO.com and download the game if you haven't already.  You'll need to set up a Turbine account as well.

Most likely I'll be playing my Level 10 Rune Keeper named Karvrakk for this group at first.   But I have 9 characters on Landroval so I'm pretty well rounded with all classes (except Warden) so I can fill any role at a wide variety of levels.

/joinchannel ltl - this is one of the first things you'll want to add to your interface in game.  This will put you in the shared chat channel that we'll use to talk when in game and not on a call or in a specific group.

Groups are more fun when we can talk, so voice communication is encouraged.  I like to use a headset with a mic as much as possible, however a built-in mic on a laptop is ok in a pinch if your background noise isn't bad and you turn the game sounds down (or pipe them into earphones.)

Voice options: in order of preference

  • Method 1 - We can share Skype details and I open a group Skype call
  • Method 2 - Teleconference bridge through Google voice - I haven't used this in a while, so I'm not sure if I'll have to renew it.  Also, as it's a free service, there tends to be lots of traffic and busy signals from the mutli-level marketing crowd.
    • TELECONFERENCE BRIDGE:  1-267-507-0240
    • Conf Code: 827217
  • Method 3 - In Game voice - this is not the highest quality, and you have to be in a fellowship (same group) for it to work.
Tuesday night -
Let's find someplace to burn through some tough content that is achievable.  Maybe Nan Wrathren or Dol Dinen in the North Downs.

LTL is live.

The group channel ltl is live on Landroval.  There are a couple folks that I play with on a fairly regular basis starting to use this for communication when in game on characters that aren't in the same kins, fellowships, etc.

/joinchannel ltl to join.

Also Linked Through Lotro is set for Thursday nights from 7:45-10pm CST on Landroval.  We'll start with whatever group we find with low levels (or fresh rolled characters) and see where we go.  Unfortunately my 2nd laptop is down, so Mrs. Karv is off line at the moment.  I hope to have that corrected soon.  I may just set her in motion some nights to run things... that will be entertaining!

Tuesday night at 8-? CST the level campers are looking at level 33 content as suggested previously.  Maybe running more Fornost wings.  4 of 6 for the water wing last week seemed to go fairly well so we'll see how Earth and Fire go.

Level Cap at Level 33

To the Tuesday night crew... Argaz, Sassy (Saryssa), Zig and Raegide, let's level camp at 33.  That'll get us the abilty to farm Garth Argawen a few more times to get the tokens for the gear for this level.  It's also a decent level to hit Fornost.  Fornost is a good one to start running in rotation at Level 50 for the scalable gear that drops... so we'll be back.

Content to look forward to at this level:

  • Garth Argawen - Level 32 for the tokens
  • Fornost - Level 33 for the fun
  • North Downs - Level 33 for Epic Vol 1 Book 3
  • North Downs - Level 33 - Dol Dinen - Elite filled group area with landscape quests.
  • North Downs - Level 33 - Etten Caves - Elite Troll filled cave

WE'VE MOVED!

We've moved to the LANDROVAL server.

While the original Kin and characters still exist on Silverlode... I have found that there is more community and in-game events on Landroval.

I have a group that I run with on Tuesdays that is currently level 32 and about to tackle Garth Argawen in the Lone Lands.

Linked Through Lotro will resume this Fall, but on another night.  Let me know in the comments or contact me when you want to run.  Thursday night (CST) or Fri/Sat nights are good for me right now. :)

On Landroval, you will find me in-game on one of the following: (all characters start with Karv...)

  • Karvett - 67 Guardian (loves to tank) -- Tailor for Light to Medium armor
  • Karvador - 34 Lore Master -- Cook and Farmer for food benefits
  • Karvaran - 33 Champion -- Scholar for scrolls and dyes
  • Karvegar - 32 Burglar -- Metalsmith for Heavy armor and tools
  • Karvwulf - 32 Hunter -- Explorer for gathering wood and ore
  • Karvrif - 26 Minstrel -- Jeweler for gear
  • Karvrid - 25 Captain -- Woodworker for bows and clubs and such
  • Karving - 22 Guardian -- Weaponsmith for swords, axes, daggers, etc
  • Karvrakk - 10 Rune Keeper -- no craft, just zaps things and sets them on fire.
To find me in game... open the social panel (type O) and look for the level range and region over on the right side.  Clear out levels and the region.  Search for "Karv", if I'm online on an alt, I should pop up.  Usually Tues/Thurs night - Sat afternoon and other times if I can.

Another thing that we can set up in-game for communication is a shared chat channel... LTL (linked through lotro)... I'll see if I can create a channel for this tonight. In game -- in the chat line type /joinchannel ltl and you should be added to this channel.
